ARE THERE LIMITS AS TO WHAT CAN BE PLACED IN THE SKIP?

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS / HIRERS, REGARDING UPHOLSTERED / PADDED FURNITURE & SEATING.......
In an effort to protect the environment and reduce pollution, as of January 2023, the Environment Agency has enacted a new Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation (POPs)
What are POPs, and why can Upholstered / Padded Furniture & Seating no longer be placed into skips?
POPs stands for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), and they are chemicals that resist degradation and remain in the environment for long periods of time.
Because of this, they can build up in the environment, causing long-term effects on ecosystems and human health.
Upholstered / Padded Furniture or Seating that is considered a POPs containing item, is any household seating that may contain POPs, including but not limited to:
Sofas - Sofa Beds - Armchairs - Padded Kitchen & Padded Dining Room Chairs - Padded Stools & Footstools
Padded Home/Office Chairs - Futons - Bean Bags - Floor & Sofa Cushions.

PLEASE READ OUR IMPORTANT WASTE WOOD NOTICE  (opens in a new window)

AN EXCESS CHARGE WILL BE INCURRED IF A SKIP IS OVERLOADED OR IF THE WEIGHT OF THE WASTE IS OVER THE SPECIFIED WEIGHT LIMIT.
Our current Waste Disposal Excess Charge for INERT Waste per pro rata tonne (including VAT) is £24.00
Our current Waste Disposal Excess Charge for Non Hazardous MIXED Waste is £215.00 per pro rata tonne or cubic metre whichever is the greater.

WHAT ABOUT PLASTERBOARD & PLASTER?

WE CHARGE AN EXCESS OF £143.00 PER TONNE FOR CLEAN, UNCONTAMINATED, PRE-SEGREGATED PLASTERBOARD AND PLASTER.
It must be placed either in a separate Skip or segregated from other waste types in a Skip by placing it into Dumpy Bags (which we can provide upon request) and placed on top of the other waste in the Skip but kept within the shape of the Skip, thus allowing for easy removal at the disposal site.
An excess charge will be incurred for the sorting and/or disposal of any unsegregated Plaster or Plasterboard found within a skip.
CONTAMINATED PLASTERBOARD i.e., Plaster or Plasterboard that also contains polystyrene, insulation, wood, tiles, etc, will be chargeable at £215.00 inc vat per tonne.

HOW FULL CAN I FILL THE SKIP?

The contents of the skip must not project from within the shape of the skip (subject to the Weight/Volume limits shown on our Invoice and/or Price List).
Due to high disposal costs, OVER FILLING OR OVERLOADING A SKIP WILL ALWAYS INCUR AN EXCESS CHARGE!

SHALL I ORDER A SMALLER SKIP AND HOPE FOR THE BEST?

In our experience, Customers VERY RARELY say "I wish we had ordered a smaller Skip" and RARELY is a Skip not full upon collection!
It is far more economical to order a larger Skip and not quite fill it, than it is to have one smaller Skip, fill it and then still need another.

IS IT CHEAPER IF I TRY TO KEEP MY WASTE TYPES SEPARATE?

Yes, definitely! We offer a discount for Skips containing just ONE of the following; Metal, Untreated Timber, UPVC Frames (No Glass or Beading), Cardboard, Paper, Glass, Hardcore and Light Weight Greenery (Subject to conditions). Email or telephone us for further details.
Our disposal charges are based on both the weight of the waste within the skip and the time that it takes to sort it. Hence, if for example, Soil & Bricks were placed in one Skip and any other waste placed either in a separate Skip or even placed in one of our Dumpy Recycling Bags, the price would be a lot cheaper!

Segregating the waste WITHIN a Skip helps too, i.e., placing the Soil and Bricks in the bottom of Skip and placing the other waste on the top, allows us to simply remove the other waste first at the disposal site and as such, the price would be cheaper.

WHERE WILL YOU PUT THE SKIP?

We recommend that, if possible, the Skip is sited on your property, as siting on the Public Highway * involves us having to obtain a Highway Licence from the Highways Department. Assuming there are no parking restrictions where the skip is to be sited, the minimum charges and the minimum period of notice required for the applications to be processed are as shown below;
Northamptonshire; £53.00 per week with 3 FULL WORKING DAYS NOTICE REQUIRED (Monday - Friday)
Warwickshire....... NOT AVAILABLE
We are unable to obtain Highway Licences for Warwickshire, Leicestershire or Oxfordshire
* The Public Highway is normally any land outside of your garden fence/wall/property boundary;
This includes The Grass Verge, Pavements, Parking Areas, Lay-Bys and the Road.
Be aware that just because you mow the grass outside of your house does not mean that you own it!
IMPORTANT: ONCE A SKIP ORDER IS CONFIRMED AND WE HAVE APPLIED FOR A HIGHWAY LICENCE, THE APPLICATION CHARGE IS NON REFUNDABLE AND IS CHARGEABLE TO THE CUSTOMER, EVEN IF THE SKIP ORDER IS AMENDED OR CANCELLED!

WILL YOU BE ABLE TO GET YOUR LORRY ONTO MY PROPERTY?

Our lorries are large, heavy, wide and long and we require enough manoeuvring space to enable our lorries to be able to safely gain access to your property.
The approximate minimum access dimensions required are; 3.10m wide, 3.90m high and an access and site surface capable of withstanding 18.0 tonnes.
Please also check for the following: Overhanging Trees, Branches, Cables, Roof Edges, Satellite Dishes & Manhole Covers (which may be hidden under gravel/stone).

COULD YOU WAIT WHILST WE FILL THE SKIP? IT WON'T TAKE US LONG!

Yes, we do offer a 'We Wait Whilst You Fill' Service. Simply contact us to make an appointment, we will then deliver a Skip within an agreed time slot and wait for a limited time whilst you fill the Skip* and under these circumstances, you would not need a Highway Licence!
* Subject to our Hire Terms and Conditions and a limited waiting time.

HOW AND WHEN DO I PAY?

Payment must be made either before or upon delivery of the Skip. We accept either; INTERNET BANKING PAYMENTS (BACS), CHEQUES or CASH.

WHEN WILL YOU COLLECT THE SKIP?
